Charlotte Crime Crack-Up: Your Weekly Review of Crime in Charlotte
The Watch Commander's report is the who, what, where and when of crime in Charlotte.
It is released nearly every day to the media by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. It's a compilation of what happened each evening while most of us slept. It's not a full list of all the crime that took occurred here, since it doesn't include everything that took place during the day.
But since a good portion of the armed robberies, shootings and other violent crimes go down at night, it captures a lot of the county's crime.
As part of a new feature on this blog, I'll publish a full, unedited copy of the week's Watch Commander's reports each Friday.
Here's the first one. Enjoy. But I warn you. After a few weeks of reading this, you won't go near a convenience store again.
According to my quick rundown of all of the crimes listed where race is mentioned, 55 out of 65 were committed by blacks. Let's see if I'm getting this correct, blacks make up roughly 20% of Charlotte's population yet accounted for roughly 85% of the crime, not counting the crime where race is not listed! GUYS, come on, seriously, when are we going to stop tip-toeing around this abundantly clear issue? As of 2005, every day in this country approximately 2 White women PER STATE are raped by a black man, or roughly 37,500. Meanwhile, out of the roughly 37,000 rapes against black women, white men accounted for 0.0% Why is truth so offensive? When are we allowed to quote facts without being accused of being a racist? Interracial crimes against white are getting worse by the way, so for all of you out there who are trying so hard to think of something clever to respond with other than the obvious - WHOA! Save your time and energy on me and invest it looking at the Channon Christian & Christopher Newsome case that we should all vow to never forget and explain to me why this hasn't made NATIONAL NEWS and isn't considered a hate crime. If you consider the Rodney King beating a hate crime, this should be considered the hate crime of the century!
YOU CANNOT CHANGE, WHAT YOU WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE!!!

Ted, you hit a home run!!you are exactly right and until the Black Community faces reality it will continue. They need to clean up thier own act, so to speak, before accusing most whites of rascism.

You are spot on. Its the double standard that exists in America. Americans need to know that 4 Black males and 1 female abducted and raped Christopher Newsom and Channon Christian.They raped(Sodomized) Christopher Newsom, cut off his penis,

Looks like the Mayor is right in his comments. Perhaps there should be a focus in the community to reduce the immitation of "gang appearance" thereby resulting in the possible lessening of criminal activity.

This smacks of racism and racial profiling to me! I think the CPD should delete all reference to sex and race in their reports.
But I do think the CMS should categorize each and every child in Mecklenburg County by the race CMS picks for them and use that description as long the child is under 18.

This is not about race,it is about the first step in resolving a problem. In order to make a positive change you must define the problem. Those people who claim racism are those people who are embarrassed by the behavior. My son was recently assualted uptown after a sports banquet,he beat the mugger to the ground then allowed him to make a hasty escape only to realize his wallet had been removed by the squealing thief in designer running shoes and NBA jacket.This attack was immediately reported to a cop on a bike,his only reply "that happens a lot up here". No report was made by the pedal pusher and I was unable to even get inside their office on Tryon Street the next day to file a written report. If you are not armed (or like my 30 year old son a black belt in Kung Fu)plan on being attacked but don't plan on being a part of the reported crimes.

I stopped at a convenience store at the corner of Tuskaseege? road and Little rock road to pick up some items around 1030 PM on 17 July. The store was in lockdown and serving through a security tray. There were several blacks and one of them which was fairly young started running his mouth in an adverse tone and also made the statement, so what, are you some kind of law. I was wearing a uniform since I just got off work for the DHS. I was not armed, so I did not reply and went to my vehicle and left before an incident could have occured. I could see it coming. I have been through that area which just about every business establishment has been robbed and some many times over. I rarely see even one police car patrolling that area. They should have several units patrolling that area especially at night. I am considering getting a concealed permit and a handgun. I am trained to use weapons as I am a vet of a total of 30 years service. They may turn me down as it would be figured that I would not hesitate at the moment of truth and not miss.

Sometimes racism means beliefs, practices, and institutions that discriminate against people based on their perceived or ascribed race. So according to your theory that factual statistics "smack" of racism (whatever that means), it's totally irrelevant the race of the individuals that commit crime. So let's apply your theory to the rest of America's politically correct societal rules, for example; Let's not mention race when applying for a job, or how about we ignore race as it pertains to pursuing an education, and what about not mentioning race as it pertains to petty lawsuits, for example; a judge who writes a letter to a known thug drug-dealer and tells him or her "if you don't clean up your act, it's jail or the cemetery" and subsequently the judge (White) gets sued by the boys Mom (Black) for "threatening her son with murder." So really what you're saying is the ONLY time you want race NOT to be mentioned is when it reflects the negative TRUTH about the black community as a whole? I'll bet if Whites committed 85% of the crime in this city, you WOULD know about it and demand this little nugget be announced from the Mountain-tops! But when it comes to Black crime, HOW DARE US WHITES even think about lecturing the Black community on what goes on within. Afterall, how can we even begin to understand the plight of Black people in this Country! My God, what hypocrites!! Now consider the fact that the overwhelming majority of robberies, rapes and assaults within the US committed by Blacks are against Whites. Talk about discrimination! see for yourself - www.fbi.gov Look up criminal statistics and please remind yourself when reading that Blacks are roughly 12% of the US population yet account for more than 50% of the prison population (compare to less than 15% of Whites), more than 70% of babies are born out of wedlock (compare to 21% of Whites) Nationally drop-out rate of over 50% (compare to less than 13% of Whites) Over 73% of Black household are Single-mothers (compare to less than 25% for Whites) Every race has issues, but only Blacks continue to lead the polls by a LANDSLIDE in EVERY negative category, and it will never improve until everyone stops being so defensive and politically correct. WHOA!!! I heard someone call into Tara's show a couple of weeks ago and spit out some CRAZY information regarding Black on White crime within this Country and at first I was thinking "NO WAY it's that bad" so I looked it up when I got home and discovered....He was right on with his stats. I am SO not a racist according to any definition, in fact as a young Black man I guess I'm somewhat of an anomaly. Anyways, the stats regarding the negative truths that plagues the Black community continue to get worse! I along with most of my White & Black friends are DESPERATE to hear some honest dialogue regarding what's going on and how to fix it! And we are tired of hearing from the Sharpton's, Jackson's, and the NAACP who want to pretend that these issues are not a problem at all and in fact are getting better, and the only reason there may have ever been a problem is somebody else's fault! Thanks for keeping it real Ted, you're right, it will never get better unless SOMEBODY takes a risk and lays it all out there! LOVE YOUR SHOW TARA!!!! Keep it up
